Oh, Social media is such a double edged sword and I often contemplate getting rid of it because I feel like too much of my time is wasted on it. But in saying that, I have met some amazing people through it and Ashlea is one of those sweet friends I met through Instagram. She runs The Little Flower Bunch,  a local flower delivery service in Jacksonville and does florals for weddings. I loved photographing her cute self and lovely flowers and I truly enjoyed our morning of creating. I love love working with other creatives and helping business with their photography needs.

I have been meaning to post this elopement, but this was such a special day, I really wanted to make sure that I told this story well which is why I haven’t posted! All the weddings that Alex and I shoot are meaningful and we are always so grateful to tell stories, but this one was sacred. Marriage is scared, but when we are the only people witnessing a marriage, guys I got the chill bumps.

Lisa and Phil are from South Florida and they wanted to forgo the traditional wedding with lots of people. They wanted to elope and then share their day with families and friends through the photos. They contacted us and shared their vision of their day, and I knew that this was going to be a dream come true to shoot this. They went against the norm and the pressures to have “The Wedding” and did it exactly how they wanted. This day was so them and we were so happy to capture every minute of it.

They wanted to get married in nature and so the searching began and they came across Washington Oaks on Google and they knew this was the place they would get married.  It truly is an old Florida gem of a park.

Not only did they have the wedding of their dreams, but now they are honeymooning in Greece. They did it right. Lisa & Phil, thank you for allowing Alex to be a part of your wedding day. It was truly an honor. We absolutely loved sharing this day with you.

cheers

Why I took a personal day. I spend most of my days behind the camera photographing love stories and amazing families, which I absolutely love, but I have also realized that in order to fill up others ,I must be filled up and take time for myself doing things that enjoy.  I have a desire to create just to create, something that I have wanted to do more of this year.  Sarah is an amazing wedding photographer and a dear friend and we met through, surprise, wedding photography. She’s such a joy to be around and we decided to take an “us day” and spend it in downtown St. Augustine walking down the streets and dragging our film cameras along for the ride. We didn’t have a plan or anywhere to be, but we just wanted to do whatever the heck felt right. Sarah is usually behind the camera, but she is just adorable and the camera loves her! We Ended up at Gray 1908 and got some grub and coffee  at Juniper Market which is such a dreamy spot to take photos. I hope you enjoy these photos. It was a refreshing and much needed day and it makes me so grateful for community over competition.
