My film journey. So this year started out with a desire to start shooting film for my personal photography…… but then it has started to trickle its way into shooting it for business. I have hesitated about even blogging about it because it is a different look then my digital and I have gone back and forth,  but I have figured that as an artist, I have the freedom to experiment with different mediums and not be afraid to put it out there and see what happens. That is how I see film: a different medium… one that I have quite frankly fallen in love with. I still love digital too and plan for it to be my primary camera, but I am excited about the possibility of shooting both digital and film. There I said it!  I am not sure how this is going to look in my business model, but I am open to the idea that maybe it will one day be a part of it and intertwined. Or it is just going to become a really expensive hobby…. Nonetheless, I present you with dear friends of ours who just had their little one earlier this week. The little guy was three weeks early!:)They braved a really hot Floridian summer evening, but it was totally worth it!

I have always been so intrigued and intimidated by film and it has been something I have been wanted to try for years, but kept putting it off because I was afraid of failing. My promise to myself when I was living in Maine this past year was to learn film and give it a go. My husband’s classmate,  who used to be a professional photographer asked me if I was interested in having his film Camera!!!!!!! Well, now I had no excuses to try it!

This is my first session on solely film and my heart is so full with the results. I still find myself looking at the back of the camera to see the image. With each time I take it out, I am learning to trust myself more and it is teaching me to slow down because of the limited amount of shots. And scan days are pretty much like christmas morning.  I am so excited to continue learning and explore this ‘new to me’ adventure. Oh and this is my cousin and his beautiful wife Katie in Palm Beach, FL.

I just love shooting engagement sessions. It’s a really great way to get to know my couples and learn more about their love story. It just never gets old and neither do engagement photos in Downtown St. Augustine. Danielle and JM will be getting married at St. Johns Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville next spring and I simply cannot wait to shoot their wedding. These two are the sweetest and are really great in front of the camera too!

After spending the last year in Maine, I so have missed shooting in Florida light! It really is a dream. I hope you enjoy!

I just adored everything about Kendra and Chris’s Club Continental wedding in Jacksonville, Florida! They were such a laid back couple who were completely smitten with one another. The love that surrounded this whole day between the two of them with their closest family and friends was beautiful! Love always wins!

I love all the “in between moments” at weddings that happen organically and are not planned. The moments of waiting and anticipation are my favorite to capture. Also, it just proves that you can have a timeline and a plan, (don’t get me wrong…I think a timeline is essential ) ,but we had planned on doing bridal portraits after the ceremony, but the lighting and wind was perfect during their first look. And well, you don’t pass that up. Kendra and Chris, thank you for trusting me with your wedding day! You both were such a pleasure to work with!
